According to eating disorder charity Beat, more than 725,000 people in the UK are affected by an eating disorder. The NHS say there’s a one in 30 to one in 50 chance of a person developing binge eating disorder at some point in their lifetime.
‘Secret eating is one of the most common conditions I see,’ says a Lead Eating Disorder Therapist at Nightingale Hospital.
NICE follow a medical model and primarily use physical symptoms to form diagnosis – this means that women who are perhaps within a ‘normal’ weight range are not treated appropriately.
Tips for Binge Eaters:
- Know your triggers
- Eat regularly
- See all food a s good
- Take away the emotion
