Professional experience

Dr Ekaterina Yurtaeva is a Counselling Psychologist, registered and licensed as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council in England (UK). In her clinical practice, she works with individuals from diverse backgrounds. She has extensive experience working with adult populations in the NHS and the private sector, including providing mental health support to frontline and emergency NHS staff, as well as individuals experiencing acute distress and psychological trauma.

Personal statement

Dr Ekaterina Yurtaeva practices using an integrative approach that combines traditional CBT with third-wave therapies, including Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She also works in a trauma-informed, humanistic, and relational way that recognises the uniqueness of each individual’s subjective experiences and places emphasis on a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship. Throughout her training and in her professional roles, she has worked with adults experiencing a range of acute and chronic difficulties, including complex trauma, PTSD, work-related stress, anxiety, depression, self-harm, psychosis, and chronic health conditions.

Additional information about research, publications and interests

Dr Ekaterina Yurtaeva has co-authored a chapter entitled “The Role of Culture in Intercultural Love and Romantic Relationships” in The Routledge International Handbook of Interracial and Intercultural Relationships and Mental Health.

She has a special interest in working with culturally diverse individuals and continues to develop and publish research in this area.
