Professional experience
Maria Iliopoulou is a London-based clinical psychologist who follows the principles of Mind-Body Medicine (Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine, Harvard Medical School).
She completed her Doctorate in clinical psychology in 2004 (Canterbury Christ Church College). Her final year training placement was undertaken at the Henderson Hospital (Rapoport, 1960).
Between 2004 and 2005 she was involved in setting up a national pilot therapy service. She studied Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Centre for Mindfulness (2007-2014).
Personal statement
Maria has worked in many mental health settings across the UK and abroad. She is fully qualified in a number of therapeutic approaches, including mindfulness-based approaches, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, narrative therapy and open dialogue.
She works together with individuals and families, integrating these therapies based on what their native drive towards homeostasis is.
She is interested in a root-cause resolution of psychiatric syndromes and symptoms.
