Professional experience

Gerhard is a senior psychotherapist and supervisor with over 18 years of clinical experience. His therapeutic journey began with a focus on bereavement, trauma, and grief, working at Trinity Hospice in Clapham and with Victim Support Lambeth.

Gerhard’s expertise is further enriched by his extensive work across various NHS hospitals, including The Maudsley Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital, and The Royal Marsden. He has also worked in a psychiatric community setting, private practice, and the third sector, contributing his skills to organisations such as One-in-Four and Maytree, a sanctuary dedicated to supporting individuals in suicidal crises.

In addition to these roles, Gerhard gained significant clinical experience as a psychotherapist within the occupational health departments of the Metropolitan Police and Transport for London (TfL), further broadening his understanding of mental health in diverse and challenging environments.

With years of clinical practice, he has worked with individuals facing diverse challenges, such as psychiatric mental health issues, trauma, anxiety, grief, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and addictions. Gerhard has also co-facilitated trauma-focused therapy groups for over 12 years and has held leadership roles as a therapeutic service manager and director in private therapy organisations.
